Colour Play in Art
Colour Play in Art is online sharing of my daily observations of colour in my environment as well as the experiments and applications of colour in my creative process as a visual artist. Multiple weekly videos document my ongoing daily practice playing with various aspects of colour: hue; value/tone; temperature; saturation; colour combinations (colour schemes); dominance. During 2025 I’ll be exploring various ways to relate colour to reality, imagination, sound, sensations, thoughts and emotions.
Recorded demos and daily practice sessions will be available to participating artists each week released on either Sunday or Monday of each week. Videos might be focused on hue, colour scheme, dominance, value/tone, temperature, saturation or neutrals. Most of the videos will, of necessity, include considerations of more than one colour characteristic. One or two lessons extracted from my online classes will also be included with each week's videos as reference.
Along with new videos there will be overlaps and repetition of previous reference lessons since artists will be coming and going as it suits their needs and their schedules. A monthly live zoom session will help us to communicate our experiences, questions, answers and ideas for further explorations into the magnificent world of colour. The sessions will be recorded for those who are unable to attend the live session.
Colour Play in Art 2025 will run from March 1, 2025 through March 1, 2026. You may join at any time. You may also take a break, cancel and rejoin at any time. There are Three ways to participate. *****
I’ve chosen to offer this unusual format of an online workspace so that I can continue to share what I've learned in the past and what I’m currently learning and creating as a full-time artist. Both The Artist’s Journey community and Colour Play in Art is intended to be a sharing between artists, regardless of the level at which one finds oneself. I think of this as a group of artists for which I am the facilitator rather than the teacher. We all have a great deal to learn from one another. Encouragement and support nurtures our inner artists.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with your questions.
