New Course - New Book - New Opportunity

A few days ago I received my copy of Suhita Shirodkar's fabulous new book, The Urban Sketching Handbook, Techniques For Beginners.  I'm honored to have one of my sketches included in this excellent collection of art and guidance that features so many of my favorite urban sketchers.  Suhita has done a spectacular job of compiling valuable information and inspiring works of art together into this lovely, small book that can easily be brought along when sketching.

I'm also a big fan of the elastic that keeps the book closed and the pages protected.

The quality of paper, the color printing and the fact that the signatures are stitched rather than glued make this a handbook you'll want to add to your collection.

In addition to a worthwhile new book being published, I published the second in my series of Bookbinding online courses, DIY Bookbinding Punching Cradle. This is a stand alone class that instructs you how to create a portable, sturdy, punching cradle for punching holes prior to stitching signatures together.  It also instructs you on how to use the cradle AND how to punch your holes without using a cradle.  Later this week I will be publishing the course on Double-Needle Coptic Stitching.  You may want to go ahead and make your cradle so you are ready to begin making your own coptic-bound sketchbooks and illustrated journals!
