Helleborus foetidus
Dala Art - drawn first in ink using a Platinum Carbon Ink Fountain Pen followed with watercolor.
To avoid being lost in the dark in an unfamiliar part of Liverpool, and possibly late for the Andrew Poppy performance of Hoarse Songs at the Capstone Theatre, I headed north from my hostel with a print out of the walking route. The fifteen minute walk turned into a three hour walk. During that time I was lost for only ten minutes. the rest of the time I was distracted, pulled here and there like metal shavings to magnets. The magnets took form as buildings both ancient and modern. Structural shapes and facade designs painted patterns upon the morning sky. I walked well over 10,000 steps before reaching the Angel Garden adjacent to Capstone Theatre. Camouflaged among its leaves and the ground cover of sweet woodruff the blossoms of Helleborus foetidus opened to the rising sun.
